Stupid question: what if bounds on returned future types were required to be part of the trait method definitions (I guess that's what async-trait offers for the Send bound)? Sure that's less flexible but probably easier for users of the trait impls.

May I suggest rust-analyzer. Current development pace seems pretty lively, probably there is something fun and useful to improve. Async-related contributions would be awesome to watch too.

Yes, that's the one. Awesome satire. Actually Troika in the story had a more scientific agenda (its purpose was to "rationalize" and "utilize" unexplained phenomena) but the thinking machine scene provides a glimpse of what a soviet-style startup accelerator would look like :)

at least there is logic to concurrency bugs, right?

That's why I didn't vote for pinning but considering it has a good chance to win I was hedging my bets ;) Also, if pinning wins I hope you will cover it in the broader context than just Futures - e.g. intrusive lists are mentioned in the docs but without any example code.

The futures video was highly informational but that one is not my favorite because it was all in pseudocode... Hope we will produce something executable in the end if this wins!

Nice article, but how could Ohm (1789–1854) write letters to Einstein (1879–1955)? Something is off!

Yes, the estate gets half of some unspecified amount of bitcoin. But who, when and how will decide what exactly this amount is?

What is still unclear to me - if he lost, what is he actually required to do other than compensate the plaintiffs' legal costs? Is it something that will be decided later on?

Yes, it's amazing. Typically to reduce a problem to its core and produce a minimally elegant solution one needs several failed attempts. 1st system is usable but clunky, 2nd system is proverbially overengineered, nth system has a chance be elegant.

Well if one could coordinate traffic so that no two vehicles are ever in the same spot at the same time that would certainly reduce vehicular deaths...

Shouldn't "both memory accesses are not reads" be "at least one of memory accesses is not read"?

Was pretty anticlimactic for an external observer IMHO. The shotgun jammed a couple of times; both chains has some hiccups, but in general absorbed the txs pretty smoothly; no 128MB blocks were mined.

Also, judging from the source code it is a rather routine thing devs do after a fork.

I don’t understand the stir about checkpointing. Surely CSW can, with enough hashpower, shadow-mine a longer chain of empty blocks from the CP and then at some point publish it and destroy ABC, right?
