It wasn't until the neo-Darwinian synthesis in the 1920s that it was really widely understood and accepted that these two points of view aren't opposed or incompatible, they actually reinforce one another, are part of a syncretic whole.

My all-time favourite example of syncretic thought: I am told there used to be two opposed schools in biology. Roughly: the Mendelians, who believed genes explained biology, and the Darwinians, who believed evolution by natural selection did.

Seriously I don’t think people understand how much creating new Information Age institutions (read: anything but the state), thus decoupling public goods funding from the state (and thereby opposition from “taxation is theft” libertarians), is going to create momentum here!

I thought subtweeting was when you talk about someone without saying their name so they won't notice, like this:

Lol I mean the ex who said the crackley candles sounded like horrific destruction instead of seasonal charm. You can't subtweet someone in a tweet to them! ... Can you? 🤔

Just wait till the AI for artificial video really becomes consumer grade. Social media on any controversial topic will truly become a hall of mirrors. In the future, crypto may be the only way to establish truth in the adversarial environment of the internet.

A great thing about 'crypto' (both cybercoins and, y'know, cryptology) is people actually starting to pilot potentially better coordination schemes. Even ideas from ancient Athens.
