rewatched Roma just now. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. imo Alfonso Cuaron is the best living filmmaker, bar none. He's the Kubrick of our time, having made classic films in a variety of genres. And he seems like a very humble, good person

it's a contributing factor I think, but not the only or primary cause. Academia has historically always been very conservative and willing to align with fascism (see the German case w/ the likes of heidegger/schmitt). Chomsky wrote about it in the 60's

Almost every International publication is writing about the injustices in Kashmir, the detentions, the humiliation, the anger. Indian 'access' journalists misleading the country with the 'peaceful' and 'normal' , I hope history records your complicity in this tyranny.

just wanted to add that there's this stanford professor of medicine in the doc who talks nonchalantly about how, while she was a professor, she started many businesses and has been involved with corporations over the years, and that grossed me the fuck out

and again, Elson Musk is running the exact same scam. He's laundering billions of government money through his private corporations and pretending he's some sort of modern-day michelangelo when in reality he's a barely sentient fuckhead

btw I've avoided focusing on the person who founded the company bc that's incidental and irrelevant. That's one of the biggest flaws of the doc: too much focus on this person's individual bio. No, look at the structures that not only allowed this to happen, but made it inevitable

you know what the company ended up doing by the end? They bought blood-testing machines from other companies, which themselves had them developed in the state sector, and started doing tests with those. Chomsky was right:

and people whom society has deemed worthy of being "prominent" were not only not opposing it, they were actively involved in the scam. This is one case where it crumbled, but it's everywhere. Musk reinvented the subway while turning it into a deathtrap and he's hailed as a genius

they also threatened workers who were calling out the scam w/ litigation, and drove one of them to commit suicide, and they reported false blood test results to patients, including for cancer and other life-threatening and/or infectious diseases

investors in this scam company included DeVos and Murdoch, while as the previous clip I posted shows a lot of leading Democrats like Bill Clinton, Biden and Feinstein were involved with it too. Meanwhile those on the board included Mattis and Henry Kissinger, because of course
