Why do you think Apollo 1 made the Apollo program stronger via failure, while Challenger weakened the shuttle program?

Yeah, it's interesting. I dunno what's in his head, but it sure looks like he'd rather not be there.

He's never been a suuuuper great orator, but he looks surprisingly uncomfortable, at least to my eye.

Lots of chatter about the Romney speech - it's worth watching the whole thing, given that it's only 8 minutes long: youtube.com/watch?v=wWYKOs…

Has there been analysis of whether drone package-delivery is better or worse than regular cars for environmental impact? Flying seems bad, but it's prob. a straighter route?
Guess is electric vehicles are best.

Space question:
OK, so after the Challenger disaster, NASA put a heavy and incredibly complex escape system that'd only work in really narrow circumstances. Astronauts I've read seem to think it was pointless. If so, surely the engineers thought likewise. So, why was it added?

Cylinders with the same mass but different moments of inertia will roll down a flat surface at different accelerations, as they have to "convert" different amounts of potential energy into kinetic energy to achieve a given angular velocity. pic.twitter.com/2KGrfZVcqJ

That's interesting. Do you think if we magically had perfect survey data he'd be under or overrepresented in popularity among queer people vs. general population?

My kneejerk answer would be Apollo 8, though I've read two astronauts who said it was the first shuttle flight by John Young, due to insane complexity and limited testing.
