Whack one mole, and another comes to take its place for Bethesda. After dealing with the inventory stealing hack for FO76 (and after compensating players in a functional but bizarre process), a new multi-tool hack threatens to cripple the game once more. youtu.be/UAnwLoKNyUE

But companies will lie anyway, because they know they can get away with it in most situations, especially for franchises too big to fail.

You don't lie about your product to make a buck. Period. I'm not saying game companies must lay their secrets bare. I'm saying when the time comes to address a major issue, cut the bullshit and don't try to PR talk your way out of a situation and expect a positive response.

Game delays are nowhere near the same as misleading marketing campaign that led to a broken half-baked product. Delayed games can sell well when they garner acclaim. You know what does affect sale? Negative PR on the scale of Warcraft 3 Reforged and a piss poor response.

It's refreshing when you do find those devs who can and are willing to be open and honest with communication. It sucks when devs can't talk about certain things due to higher ups' mandates. And it reeks when devs/publishers willfully try to bullshit their way out of a situation.

Unfortunately, these kinds of statements tend to be carefully constructed to cover companies' asses rather than actually open an honest dialogue, so they read like the most impersonal non-apologies.

I get things can go awry during game dev. I get how or when a game launches is not always up to devs. But if you're going to release a statement addressing a situation, cut the bullshit (especially publishers). Respond like people if you want to us to reciprocate like people.

What gets on my nerve more than publishers willfully having devs launch a game knowing it's nowhere near ready is the bullshit that follows - the dishonest boilerplate statements that take people for morons & take no accountability. It's so frustrating to read through that shit.

Blizzard's response to the Warcraft 3 Reforged debacle is about as awful as I expected. youtu.be/EDKPhcUb_w0

Google has responded to Stadia players complaining about the lack of games (0 new titles or announcements in 46 days and counting), and the response provided wasn't confidence inspiring to say the least. youtu.be/AQLY4Yj9w-8

Honestly, so many great choices for this one. I think what made MGS1 particularly mindblowing for me was the relatively seamless transition from cinematic to gameplay. Had never seen anything quite like that at the time, and it was incredibly immersive.

I think my video might've contributed to that, which made mention of the then lower user score on Garry's Incident. It was at 0.4 when I uploaded, then shortly after upload, that number started going up. 😬 youtu.be/Fi6REMH8fnA
