Are you hiring? Don't be shitty to your candidates.
They are humans, not resources, and they deserve to be treated with care and respect regardless of whether or not you decide to hire them.
Don't be that guy. Don't be that company.

this one kinda took a while (sorry!), but i'm *really* pleased to announce `tracing-subscriber` 0.2.0 stable! crates.io/crates/tracing…

Maybe! I'm not sure, if you want to try it out and lmk how it goes the definition for the trait is here

and an example usage is here

google results say yes, precisely. The central crate provides the type that consumes the mixins and the traits they have to impl, and then you fork a library that impls those mixins and modify them to fit your needs, thats the idea at least.

I guess? I'm not super familiar with the concept of mixins, googling.

Now I just have to see how much I can clean this up and if any relevant conclusions can be drawn from this that are actually useful to people in practice.

The shape of victory, it turns out you can in fact define an error reporting type that is generic over its error storage strategy and context storage strategy and implement concrete error types using the shared machinery in 3rd party crates. pic.twitter.com/uMsO5Z1Vp5

I 100% agree, this is more of an experiment than a proposed solution, things certainly came out unweildy

Turns out that the solution to my issue with traits was infact to add more traits (and move them into the upstream crate) pic.twitter.com/FgSddBJHUn

As frustrating as it is to have to struggle with this I am incredibly glad the compiler handles verifying this for me. I spent all day thinking about this yesterday, read the docs on coherence, and was sure I had it figured out, but was still wrong.
