That’s probably the problem, I found the most draining meetings are the ones you care too much about. You’d probably enjoy the meetings but any disappointment/misalignment of expectations in the process/later will drain your energy.

Meet more people you are energized by than those who deplete your energy. I have about 6-12 meetings everyday day on average and would say that most energize me. Otherwise rethink why you are meeting them.

Industry has different approaches (the #1 and #2, as examples, see below). #2 is really hard and most people end up being wrong and pick whoever they can relate to the most. Ask hard questions: what makes an amazing founder? Why?

VC #1: Invest in enough 45-year-old founders (or whatever your theme is). Probability will do its magic and produce a few successful companies; VC#2: try to understand what actually makes the 45-year-old founders successful and invest at 30, fund either sucks or be the best ever.

Can we, as VCs, identify founders when they are massively “under-valued” and “non-obvious” for whatever reasons and give them a hand? Are “extraordinary” founders born this way or learned overtime?
