Along with The Velvet Touch, Repeat Performance and Black Angel, Nocturne (lower right), shown today on TCM, is one of several US films noirs made between 1946 and 1948 which begin with the camera seeking out a lighted window and moving into it to find a story.

30 years ago this month, I took off across US & W. Canada via greyhound & thumb for 3 months. The estimable gave me this LP before I left, and it always reminds me of the amazing music I saw on that trip: Ray Condo auditorium
