Monsoon doing it at the end of each PPV there in 95-96 and citing a wrestler’s recent success and/or the inciting controversy was perfect IMO

Just fucking NAME a Number One Contender! Of course, for that to work somebody on the roster would have to be over*, but there y'are (*not necessarily their fault)

Rikishi as the driver was as anticlimactic as Vince being the Higher Power. In both cases we were just expected to ignore and forget months of prior TV.

Go-home Smackdown for Survivor Series 2000. A tartan-trousered Lita gets in the ring... Edge on commentary: "She looks like a Bay City Roller!" King (clearly genuinely baffled): "What's a Bay City Roller?" Edge: "They were COOL!"

Mild take and all that..:the week-to-week TV really does exemplify how horribly mis-cast Rikishi was in this role. He's trying with it, but none of the pieces even come close to fitting.

A relatively 'standard' record, but - perhaps in spite of itself- quite an interesting one. Wire has definitely long since run out of things to say though...and as such 'Distant Colours' is my favourite (both lyrics and song) by some way.

This reference will be lost on our North American listeners - and probably a fair whack of our UK ones for that matter! - but: 'The One' Billy Gunn = Bobby Davro.

I get it but as Bryan pointed out, it's a wrestling podcast. If a former manager of Leeds United and Vince McMahon die on the same day, I'm going to bet a football podcast will talk about the manager first.
