6 means that one can be in a civil partnership regardless of the fact that they are legally married to someone else. 7 in trying yo establish if a civil partnership exists the court will consider those grounds. 8 simply means every marriage must be solemnised by marriage officer.

9. If you get married customarily kubvisa roora at home & not with marriage officer you must within 3 months register the marriage.

1. Age of marriage is now 18 2. Marriage is only valid when you fully consent 3. Chiefs are now marriage officers. 4 parties in marriage now have equal rights unlike before 5. Law recognizes civil partnerships which is a relationship between a man and woman over 18.

The bill makes it clear that all marriages are premised on free and full consent. The marriage officer in kugara nhaka has to be satisfied that the woman fully consents before proceeding.

Civil partnership are what we call in shona kuchaya mapoto were two people live together share a life, financial dependence etc but are not married. The law seeks to protect these upon dissolution of such a relationship.

Regarding wife inheritance, I want to know if the women actually consent to the practice. If the Bill is meant to protect the rights of women (& children), the Bill must also stipulate that consent is and should be a crucial element in this practice which is to be solemnised. 🤷‍♂️
