In a deposition, the creator of Bitmessage has confirmed that the supposed chat messages between Dave Kleiman and Craig Wright are forgeries.

The messages in question are dated prior to Bitmessage's public release and use features that didn't exist until later releases. CSW's lawyers are clutching at straws to suggest Craig could have been given prerelease access, or "maybe a hacker did it".

Note that if these messages were genuine, Craig would know how he got the software and could simply state so himself. But instead of providing a coherent explanation, they're merely contending that it's not 100% certain that Craig is guilty.

To people believing that Craig could have had a pre-release version a few days early: pay attention. One of the messages shows a v4 address; these didn't exist until Bitmessage 0.4.0, released almost a year later. No explanation for this has been offered.

Correction: at least one "explanation" for the v4 address has now been floated: that addresses of old messages are automatically "upgraded" when you upgrade your Bitmessage installation. This is not the case.

In one of many attempts to try to suggest Bitmessage may have been publicly available earlier than thought, CSW's lawyers pointed to a May 2012 timestamp found in the Bitmessage v0.1.0 installer. It turns out this is just the PyInstaller wrapper.

Also it looks like this html file could have been edited before it was printed, unless in March 2011 he had no clue what the BTC price was...
