When does a joke become a dad joke? When it becomes apparent. You’re welcome. Happy Father’s Day!

Rather than making it so that fewer things break, make it so that more things can break without damaging user experience or waking us up.

There are better ways of doing things than building your own. ✨reuse other peoples' software✨ [ed: as says, "run less software".] You are not Google or Facebook. [ed: as said, the less state in your head, the better!]

I feel this is somehow relevant to . More docs are not always better: sometimes we need to write what the user needs to know, not everything there is to tell. And of course, Always Be Deleting.

Ha! They spelled out "Red Handed" in Morse code using straight & curly apostrophes. That is genius.

Let's do a few Peanuts Father's Day strips: This is perhaps the autobiographical one, drawing on Charles Schulz's own father, a barber in St. Paul, MN, whom Schulz said would greet him like this when he came into the shop.

You guys notice that boomers don't seem to know how to use ellipses? I asked a coworker if he minded swapping shifts with me and his response was just: "sure...." He didn't mean to sound negative at all, but for millennials that translates to, "okay, but go fuck yourself".

DIE, n. The singular of "dice." We seldom hear the word, because there is a prohibitory proverb, "Never say die." At long intervals, however, some one says: "The die is cast," which is not true, for it is cut.

I prefer it when major IT outages occur on weekends. Saves me having to read 10,000 hot takes about how it's related to x geopolitical event, or could be solved with machine learning/blockchain, because all those people are too busy doing coke.
