The labour movement salutes our greatest son. Australians everywhere remember and honour a man who gave so much to the country and people he cared for so deeply. May he rest in peace.

My very first political memory...my late Uncle Joe popping the champagne after Bob Hawke won in ‘83. I was 10 years old. I grew up with the Hawke and Keating Govt’s. The best federal Labor period ever - transformed our nation. And the reason I joined . RIP RJH

More than any other, Bob Hawke was the people’s Prime Minister. Australians saw themselves in him, and he saw himself in us. The son of a school teacher and a minister, he grew up in the most ordinary of circumstance.

Bold and brilliant. Visionary, authentic & indefatigable. Always on the side of fairness & decency. Loveable, imperfect and inspirational. The Shakespeare of our national story. The joint feels smaller without him already.

Victorian Liberal members have been invited to the federal campaign launch in Melbourne next Sunday. One has opined “can you think of a better way to spend Mothers Day?”

Have you seen Michael Johnson? Police continue to appeal for public assistance to help locate him as he suffers from a medical condition that requires regular medication. The last confirmed sighting was at Mitcham Railway Station about 11am yesterday

No one has done more to build modern Australia’s social compact than Jenny Macklin. No one has given more to . And there’s no stronger role model for anyone in public life. She will be so missed, but we all walk taller for what she gave us.

Barney Cooney was a spectacular, smart, kind & principled man. We need more people like him in politics. A Senator, a husband, a Dad, Grandad, friend, supportive barracker& moral compass to so many of us. Love to his family & friends

Fascinating. In USA where drug use is illegal, they've 245 annual drug deaths for every million people of their population - & use is rising. In Portugal, where it is legal, and they put 90 % of their drug budget to healthcare, they lose just 6 per million - & drug use falling.

I feel for Andrew Broad, who has suffered greatly because of one person's reprehensible decision to break the sacred bond of respect and trust that exists between a man and a total stranger that he meets on sugar daddies dot com.
