Here are NTP team members Aaron Jaffe and trying out the 75" 4K touchscreen we have in the Lab for evaluation. Sure makes seeing all of those fallen trees a lot easier! We plan is to use it for detailed analysis of tornado damage and sharing results.

In a unique partnership, 100 new homes in St. Thomas, ON are being built to withstand tornadoes and high winds up to EF2 in intensity - hopefully a sign of things to come. And make sure to check out the video featuring members of the NTP team at .

New tools! Using a near infrared camera (on a drone!), we can hopefully begin to better determine tornado paths through grass and small crops, which can be difficult to detect by eyesight alone!

Our hard-working team finished surveying in Alberta and is now in NW Ontario making their way toward damage sites in the Atikokan / Quetico Centre area. The survey work will help us determine what damage there, if any, was caused by a tornado.

Out to Alberta again! Alberta has been quite active tornado-wise lately, and will be sending a team to investigate this latest event - making use of info from ECCC. Thankfully no injuries but appears to be damage to crops, trees and cabins.

Nearly all of the team is at the NTP Expert Meeting in Montreal today. Damage surveys were done on the way there, surveys are planned on the way back to London on Tues. And now there is damage in SK to investigate. Busiest time of the year for tornadoes in Canada!

An EF1 tornado has been confirmed by EC north of Montreal in association with yesterday's powerful storms in QC and ON. A team will visit this site as well as others in eastern ON over the next several days for ground / drone survey work.

A good article on some very preliminary results from the recent ground / drone survey trip to AB / SK by our NTP team. More analysis - and close consultation with ECCC meteorologists - will be required to know if additional tornadoes can be added to this multi-day outbreak.

An EC team is making its way to site of the damage, and a team will be arriving tomorrow, with drone. Videos indicate there could be a mix of tornado and downburst damage - will take a thorough investigation to sort out.

The expanded NTP also aims to investigate improved radar-based detection of tornadic storms. We are in the process of acquiring the Exeter radar being decommissioned by EC/MSC. This dual-pol Doppler radar would serve as an R&D centrepiece in SW Ontario.
