Ok real talk: I give plenty of speeches and the nerves beforehand never fully go away for me. Never let anyone convince you that experiencing nerves means you shouldn’t be up there. You absolutely do! Here are some awesome benefits:

This was written in 1956, and yet modern tech companies and individual engineers are still struggling to understand this at their own peril (failed projects, burnout, etc.). (I also like the next part: “Whether we like it or not, people are here to stay.” 😂) Les Giblin:

Noticing people respond to Qs they don’t know the answer to with “I’m not sure, I’ll find out & let you know” I would love to see more “I’m not sure, let’s find out together” For jr. devs especially, the process of HOW to find an answer is more important than what the answer IS

There are many ways to describe the policy of ripping children away from their parents at the border. -It violates human rights laws. -It is unAmerican. -It would shock Jesus. But I think the most appropriate way to describe it is this: -The policy is evil.

When my parents got on a boat the day before Saigon fell, they didn’t know the rules. Int’l law or where borders were drawn meant little when you’re scared & desperate—to hear ppl say children deserve to be torn from their parents because asylum-seekers broke the law is sickening
