Nice! I think the other key trait is the ability to succinctly explain our big ideas. I often tell my students that regardless of how good they are at collecting and analyzing data, as a PI they will be judged more on the quality, originality, and importance of their questions.

On a slightly related note: it took me WAY too long to realize that thoughtful criticism to most people (my spouse, my friends, my undergrads) is seen as negative, while in science thinking hard about someone else's stuff is one of the nicest things you can do for them.

It seemed to me that the cultural norms of the conference were shifting as well. I can't be the only one who uses Ben as a role model (I've long asked myself WWBKD), and I think this was reflected in the especially positive and thoughtful tone of the meeting, the support for

I'm late to the Twitter love fest for for chairing an incredible Micro Pop Bio , but I need to get in on it! The science was insanely good and it was impeccably organized, but I also got the sense that something deeper was happening.

Yea, that is a worry. I get mine down to about 1/3 of a page, including description, which might be relatively cheap insurance!

I thought we had to address how the work will be divided up among personnel through time, etc. But cool, I’ll stop putting in a timeline. Agreed it’s not very useful.
