Are you saying it's not about the status quo, racism, anything really like that, it's about allowing people to hold problematic views because that's what makes society work?

So if someone was a friend with a racist, you wouldn't question if they were sympathetic to their friend's cause? I'm not saying it makes them racist by association, but unless they're working to change, they're supporting the status quo.

The chart in the graphic is showing the results of a questionnaire. It specifically asked people about immigration and tradition. Those correlate and overlap with racism, and people who voted leave proportionally said yes more.
The other questions also support this view.

It doesn't show they are racist. It shows they are significantly more sympathetic to racists.
I imagine your view is being more sympathetic to something like bigotry isn't in itself a sign the individual themselves are bigots?

Isn't that quite literally what the chart is showing? How do you interpret the question's specific framing/topics and results?

We should keep the people who get radicalised by prison in prison for longer. If we increase ineffective punishment and make no effort into solving the problem we will feel good and just. It's such an obvious and easy solution there's no need to check what the data shows.

I think what you're saying is an example of what Gary was saying.
Not all bigots voted Leave. I understand why you'd say it, but can you see how it looks? The stats show a trend, but it's from absolute and this position is easy to dismiss, with no conversation or empathy.

That's a really interesting position you're in.
Would you say it's a general intolerance, or a specific intolerance towards perceived bigotry? I'd view these as very different things.
