Fatal admission! He was looking for a job "while we process the request for a certificate of divestiture." The job has to necessitate the CD

U don't qualify for employee tax relief by entering into a deal & then go looking for a job that may or may not necessitate closing the deal

You kind of wonder if he wanted a HUGE tax break and asked Trump how to pull it off.

This is gold, though: "The president takes ethical obligations of all his employees very seriously." The OGE Director chose to resign! 🤦🏼‍♀️

So what is the point of selling SkyBridge ... if not necessary since he didn't have the job .. ?

Thanks for providing this! Scaramucci is clearly trying to cadge a tax break under false pretenses. Appreciate your work *immensely.*

As I learn to translate Legalese into the language of actual human people from earth, could u give feedback on whether this is any clearer?
Ophelia Bedford Jul 25
Replying to @waltshaub
More clear for sure! Only tweaks would be use more nouns instead of they and he, because there are a few theys to keep straight.

Could he only be taking job for short time to get tax break? Would it be worthwhile?

the phrase "before they hired him " . Does 'him' refer to the attorney mentioned earlier, or the 'he' that is mentioned right up front?
neets Jul 25
Was about to suggest the same, also the "it" in your second paragraph (Skybridge?). Thanks for the explanation; I get lost in legalese.
Walter Shaub Jul 25
Yes. And thanks both of you. This is helpful feedback as I try to refine the communication skills.

Right. That should be made clearer. Before they hired Scaramucci, not the attorney.

That's what OGE has to guard against. It's only supposed to ease the pain of following rules. It's not supposed to be a fringe benefit.
