This photo of my friends mains hookup lead, shows how much heat is generated when plugged in and why it is advisable not to leave them coiled up in use JUST TO CLARIFY - this is a NCC approved 16amp 2.5mm cable, 25 m long hookup lead fully uncoiled and drawing on average 13amps
