It will be lopsided and the holder will never feel truly proud of carrying it - and will always be aware that it could be better. A Treaty is a bit like a woven kete. It has to be put together properly with equality and balance to be something to truly carry with pride 😊

I'm finding it much more beneficial than past therapy. In part because the focus isn't on 'fixing' me.

I wish I could retweet multiple times. Man my PhD journey would have been so different if I had of had a Māori supervisor.

There are 105 Māori psychs in NZ (3.8%). I'm a PhD, clinical psych with 2 Marsdens, National science funding, & other projects and I am no longer allowed to supervise because I'm not an academic. Crushing barriers to access for Māori. I won't give up.

I joined a friend's religion because he promised I could be the Grand High Priestess. One day I'll use it in an official capacity...

I re-Tweeted about it twice. He was glorious and should have gotten an lot more focus than Joaquin Phoenix's completely ineffectual gesture

Can't hurt to ask. I've worn glasses since I was 10 and contacts since 14 but they've never been able to make it so I can read the board properly. I also have so many problems with bright lights and dark lights.

Ngā mihi e hoa. So much of what you've said resonates with me and I really can't express how it feels to see I'm not alone.

Huh I've never even heard of this before but I might need to mention it to my optometrist next time I go as I have a whole host of these symptoms...

MĀORI ACADEMICS ARE SEVERELY UNDER-REPRESENTED IN NZ UNIS. We make up only ~5% of the total % of academics at NZ’s unis incl. (1/10).

The concepts on my sheet are: mauri, tapu, mana, waihanga, pumanawa, ngakau, whatumanawa, hinengaro, iho matua, and Io matua te kore. That adds up to more than 9 but I think iho matua is the whole framework.

I asked the facilitator for some more info for you e hoa. The program was taught by Dame Kāterina Mataira but apparently she went beyond the 9 kupe they use. In it's therapy form it was developed (I think, at least in Porirua) by Peta Ruha.
