How about next time instead of broadcasting individuals' choices inside the voting room live on national TV without consent, news media go and speak to disabled people, ex-felons and those with family responsibilities who are disenfranchised by this process???

Yes makes sense. And I'm sure blunted neural responses to food play a role in over-consumption too. Anyhow, as a researcher working on mice, human obesity research isn't my specific speciality so I'd like to hear where I have it totally wrong!

Right, I agree, very interesting question that I think remains unanswered. There are likely different factors contributing to obesity in different people. But my 2c, I would guess many have stronger baseline hunger signal and therefore require more adipose tissue (->leptin) /1

That's a big 'if'. I would contend that evidence for a 'set point' in the brain is lacking; rather, food intake is likely determined by a 'settling point' - the balance between signals that promote and inhibit feeding.

This besides the aspects of science culture (late seminars, long conferences, etc) that are difficult to combine with family responsibilities but may be important for career progression.

Our 2nd insula paper is out in ! We found that insular cortex represents current bodily state AND uses external cues to “simulate” future changes to bodily physiology – “How do I feel?” + “How will this make me feel?” More in THREAD…1/7

In my view, Johnson won such a resounding majority because a small but significant part of the British electorate believes they live in a multiparty democracy, when in fact they don't.

Watching British celebrities pile in to help figure out how to get a last-minute proxy vote because the system for postal votes sucks is what I come here for.
