Haha, thank you Parker! Part of me thinks that the beard happened subconsciously or even consciously to spite DSC πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ. I was so bitter after that interview that I canceled my ~2+ year subscription. I still have blades from 2015 which my partner uses for shaving πŸ˜‚

Well, with all that said, there's still a lot of work to be done. πŸ˜… It's work I'm passionate about. ❀️ Developing our human and customer experience is near and dear to my heart. ❀️ Equitable retention and expansion drives me more than I can express in a tweet thread.

So many people have been underpaid, over-promised, under-served. Many career growth systems are implicit by nature and benefit the privileged few. That's not equitable, that's not scalable. These are systems I seek to deconstruct, expose and challenge with all of my might.

Developing as humans and in our careers is near and dear to my heart. Everyone I meet brings so much value to this world with their unique perspective and set of skills. Many of whom have not been invested in or encouraged. So many people have been mismanaged πŸ’”.

We're very close to shipping a new version of that in Support at Webflow. It's been one of the most highly collaborative efforts and endeavors of my life. Learning from every team I could connect with in the SaaS industry and reading more books or articles than I can count.

Building systems for career growth that accounts for the skills, desires and needs of a very diverse set of team members and futures is incredibly challenging and requires a lot of research, development and reassessment. Often times over and over again.

Since June, my perspective and drive has changed to building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive future for anyone that arrives after me. Turning implicit requirements for career advancement into explicit, defined, repeatable and achievable requirements.

I've been driven by dollar signs and opportunities to achieve one of my life goals of being able to write a blank check for anyone I believe in. That's still a dream of mine, yet it will require more effort to achieve. So I'll do what I can in the meantime. ❀️

I thought that it may be fun to share a bit more specificity around that journey back then. It was a period of tremendous growth, for me. I didn't know how to say no back then. That's something I'm still learning today as I'm reading Essentialism.

Back to the story, that November in 2015 I received a message from Vlad asking if I'd consider joining Webflow remotely. I almost fell out of my chair, I've documented a bit more of the story here:

As a visual developer, it took me another few years to learn how spacing worked/how to check it in different design files. I have to thank for sharing the secret of holding down the option key and hovering over elements in Figma to see the spacing between elements ❀️

I sent my application site to to review, I'd screenshot his response but will ask for permission before I do. Though he followed up and recommended I adjust typography and spacing to be more consistent πŸ™ˆ

We began talking and troubleshooting sites together, it was a lot of fun! I literally spent my lunch breaks on my phone connecting with our community on the forum. I'm so grateful that we work together at Webflow now, too. ❀️
