Well that's the oldest cellar card I've seen yet. Been hanging in an Ashington cellar since 1964, pre-keg days! "STANDING ORDERS" sounds very military but then National Service only finished two years earlier.

Yup, the thermometer one is a good tip. Measure the air temp in the centre of the room instead of the stone wall temp at the back.

Aye that'll be the Scottish Breweries ( & Younger) side of operations following their 1960 merger with Newcastle Breweries. Clearly a difference in opinion betwen the two divisions over how to return beer to the cask! 😱
