In 22y in India, never went to see the Taj Mahal, though I was nearby a few times

A book by a friend is like a tourist spot in your own country or city. Short-term tourists are more likely to go there because you think you could go anytime and don’t prioritize it. With a book, you might not properly read it because you can just talk to them.

Properly reading @sarahdoingthing book Every Cradle is a Grave for first time, though I bought and speed-skimmed it 6 years ago when we started co-blogging (no big surprises though... between skimming and talking to her, wysiwyg, just like Griffiths Park is like in the movies)

Same with @eyecheng Emissaries Guide. Speed-skimmed it a year or so ago, but then started collaborating so easier to just chat about stuff. Now reading properly for the first time.
