I just spoke on the House floor to urge my colleagues to vote for the PAWS For Veterans Therapy Act today. This important bipartisan legislation helps veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress recover and return to civilian life by pairing them with service dogs.

Survivors also experience barriers when seeking treatment. Many victims who report their assault receive harsh discharges-- preventing them from getting key VA healthcare. Even if eligible, the VA benefits process is often traumatizing for survivors.

Sexual harassment and assault is widespread in the military-- 1 in 4 women veterans have experienced sexual harassment, denigration of service, or other hostile behavior from male veterans at VA facilities and many face retaliation for reporting.
