Yeah I've found useCallback/useMemo for funcs/objs/arrays is absolutely required for anything that's ultimately going to be used by a different component

That feeling of being on your back foot, off balance and under attack, is so destructive to productive conversation. Giving some space for everyone to regroup and reconsider helps guide the conversation out of this toxic space

This is such a gentle way to nudge people into considering a broader vision of the arguments they've been making, and giving people space to switch from reaction to attempting to state their case more wholistically

I constantly see people twist themselves into knots by responding and modifying their stance in response to people questioning them. Often I can understand their perspective, but can't understand what their conclusion is

Favorite new phrase for disarming a heated conversation: "I see where you're coming from, but I'm not sure where you're going"

My favorite part of fish shell's excellent autocomplete is when I go to commit and it gives me the exact message I need. Guess I've done this before

One of my bigger twitter pet peeves. Like 60% of accounts on here could be replaced with a markov chain trained on dumb opinions and nobody would notice, stop signal boosting random dinguses

Mine was a Windows console game written in C++ (do not recommend), and printing characters was slow enough that I could see a quick flash of the squares flipping as the algorithm executed. SO exciting

I did minesweeper years ago when I was learning to program, I remember that feeling so well! Such an awesome moment when it starts working

One of the things I originally valued about reddit was its acceptance of being a hub, not a walled garden. More and more of their product decisions seem designed to create walls

It seems that is playing a cat-and-mouse game to block the Reddit Sync app from downloading videos, and it's extremely annoying. Downloads break, app updates and fixes it, then downloads break—happening every 2-4 weeks for a couple months

shoutout to the 18+ Irish people (half of whom arrived via party van) renting the place next door. thanks for cooling down after the cops showed up (also party patrol should be replaced by someone who isn't a cop)
