I finally figured out something that's been bothering me. Around ~Sept/Oct, the anti-encryption narrative espoused by DOJ et al. suddenly, out of nowhere (from my POV), went all-in on child sex abuse material (CSAM) as the reason to finally ban strong encryption.

And also in USA it more or less implies use of general warrants, which are *explicitly* unconstitutional (not that that stopped Bush/Ashcroft/Rice on their illegal wiretaps.)

Also there's no reason to believe it'll help with that problem, as stated. The argument supposes it'll always require a warrant(ish) and that they can find the kiddie porn using encryption backdoors. It's contradictory...

I think at this point you're right, but also "candidates can request" is a terrible model, and we need randomized risk limiting audits at every level of tallying.

I guess if it's a fully binary tree it's only 10/11 levels of phone calls, and if you make it 10 precincts reporting to 1 person, it's only 2/3 deep. (Best/Worst part of the tree)
