My concern is not spammy notifications. It is very effective at not showing me any of those. My concern is that people who legitimately contact me that way don't get a bounce message, so I come off as rudely not responding. (I check facebook rarely, so it doesn't bother *me*.)

So I just learned there is no way to stop strangers (i.e. not "friends") from sending you chat requests on Facebook Messenger, even if all your privacy settings say "friends only".

Thanks. Actually, I've done this before and didn't know it had a name. I talked about the technique in a climagic video, but can't remember which one:

Nice. Sort (pun intended) of like a partial DSU (Decorate - Sort - Undecorate) idiom, a.k.a. Schwartzian transform.

An object or a system is chiral if it is distinguishable from its mirror image; that is, it cannot be superposed onto it.

TIL about chirality: Many real-life examples of it. Chirality /kaɪˈrælɪtiː/ is a property of asymmetry important in several branches of science. The word chirality is derived from the Greek χειρ (kheir), "hand," a familiar chiral object.
