Today, far fewer people are buying tickets due the poor service that is being provided. Some choose to evade fares and risk being detained, while many others are forced to use more expensive transport options like taxis and buses.

Much of what time they have left at the end of the day is spent on an overcrowded, unsafe and an uncertain commute home.According to Metrorail’s own statistics, on average more than half of all trains are late in Cape Town, rising to 90% of trains on certain lines at times.
