A truly herculean effort! I can tell you first hand how beautiful that data is. Exciting times to be a fly neuroscientist!

Insanity = repeating the exact same thing over and over but expecting different outcomes. should I be worried about you? I keep getting the exact same every other week...

Many of the input synapses onto PN axons are actually axo-axonic connections from other PN axons. These build a complex network in which some communities appear to represent specific odour scenes. 6/12

We marked all synapses on PN axons (over 175k!). Intriguingly in the largest target area, the lateral horn, the axons also receive many input synapses. These are almost absent from the next major target, the mushroom body. 5/12

PNs are incredibly diverse. This includes the olfactory input that they receive, ranging from very broad (dendrites in almost all of the 51 olfactory glomeruli) to very sparse (uniglomerular i.e. just one olfactory channel). 3/12

Building on previous work from , et al we reconstructed, identified and analysed all 346 olfactory projection neurons (PNs) using . ~2-3x more PNs than previously reported! 2/12

I am very excited, to finally share this: Using a functional approach we uncovered a mechanism for whitening, a fundamental computation that decorrelates neuronal population activity for pattern classification by memory networks.

In prior work (Doe et al, 2019) has considered the problem of parrot walking, however, the proposed method had severe limitations. The approach presented in this paper is novel and versatile. To our knowledge it is the first work considering multiple parrots simultaneously.
