Just tell them if the “customer” wants it so bad maybe the “boss” can pay you a month’s consultants fee to fix it.

One of my favourite features in PyCharm / IntelliJ: Accepting a completion suggestion with [Tab] overwrites the existing text after the cursor until the next "separator" (parens, etc.) while [Enter] just inserts it as is.

Thanks for the offer but I'd rather not waste my time in a hotline with very uncertain outcome.

Accidentally bought an HP 302 instead of an 301 ink cartridge... Of course they're not compatible even though physically fitting into the printer. Because one is for the 1010 printer the other one for the 1100. Thanks a fucking lot HP...

There's an entire podcast episode about it: The whole podcast is great (by the same guy that does 99% Invisible).

This is a very specific US issue. Trump also got sued for this. IIRC the argument is something like the public servants are not allowed to discriminate specific citizens from expressing their free speech towards them or something.

And even that isn't foolproof. If you, by accident, leave a subdomain pointing github that used to be used by a (now) deleted github org repo it can be taken over by an unrelated user repo. Also learned this the hard way.

I would never dare to compare a bit of jetlag with having a baby...

Jetlag makes me feel like one of those "normal" people. Dead tired at 22:00 and waking up at 6...

Don’t let the fact that you work from home as the only remote employee in your city stop you from making a slack channel for #[city]-office and aggressively making use of it.

Deutsche Bahn website says they wanted to improve account recovery security. What solution did they chose? Of course: Security questions 🤦‍♀️

Heading home after two amazing weeks of post vacation in Japan (and two days in Seoul). Definitely won’t have been the last time I’ve come here.

In my years of developing software, I've come up with 10 commandments that I follow to navigate code reviews. They have worked like a charm on every team I've ever been a part of, so I hope they work for you.
