finally finished this book review which has taken me forever to write. Glad I got this of my desk! Next goal: write some emails that I've been putting off for a long time too and finish a conference abstract (taking it slow on a Friday as you can see ;)

The bike stats from last year are in: I spent 196 hours and 19 minutes on my bike and biked 3016km! To even more biking in 2019!

Very interesting headline. The implicature is “you wouldn’t take your mother to a Korean restaurant.” What are the assumptions inherent to that? Most obviously, “your mother doesn’t eat/like Korean food.” What kind of mother doesn’t? Not a Korean mother, obviously.

Back in the office on a wonderful snow day. Cozying up with a cuppa tea and putting the finishing touches on a manuscript. I wish more workdays were as peaceful as this 😊

Got a book from the library. Read the first 100 pages and was wondering why the plot seemed so familiar. Well, turns out I not only read the book before, I even own a copy of it

The only person I met on campus when I went to water the plants in my office today was a jogger and his dog. It's so peaceful and serene at the university during the winter break, it makes me want to go to work just so I can look out of the window and dream...

I love how someone designed this list of German to English translations of programs of study..(German on the left and English translation on the right), incl. Études Francophones

I coincidentally just found an English glossary supposed to help with German-English translations at my university and learned that we are supposed to use "British spelling and style conventions":
