I'd love to but my work is absolutely married to the Windows Scripting Host by way of a third-party tool.
I can't use anything more modern than VBScript or JScript (circa ES3) and it's terrible.

You can compile TypeScript down to ES3 and include `scripthost` in your `lib` settings.

Are there any open issues or discussion around loosening the return type annotation of an async function to *not* require modifying explicit return type to be a generic promise?
There are scenarios where doing so makes async await an unnecessarily leaky abstraction in TS.
