I believe Venture for America was an attempt to help solve this issue - give people prestige (insurance) while taking career risks. Teach For America operates somewhat on similar model.

I think you undervalue the attractiveness of not having to pick an industry before you know anything about it, and the "survey course" nature of consulting, investment banking, etc. In my experience, that was the biggest non monetary factor for going into those fields along peers

maybe b/c great value of business boom/bust cycles is that busts clear out the old guard and make way for the new (Schumpeterian destruction) -> a process that central banks have been actively trying to stop for the last 30 years or so.

Both Bloomberg and Tyler Cowen are propagandists of ethnic cleansing.
