Materials are assigned by index in the palette. Most materials have 16 assigned slots (that can be in any color).

Using the excellent voxel modeling program by , you'll be able to create your own sandbox levels and destroy them in Teardown. Four example levels will be included in the initial release.

Hey Scott, yes, that's where we want to end up! All game logic is already in a lua scripting layer (ships with source), but we're not releasing the level editor in first release, so it's not of that much use in the initial version... but we'll get there :)

I think the game would run fine on next generation consoles, but porting to console is a lot of work and out of scope for now. Maybe once we're through early acess.

There are already two systems like this in place in Teardown. Take more targets -> increase score/rank to unlock more tools. Scavenge valuables -> upgrade existing tools

It's still 8-bit palette, I fill up unused colors with yellow permutations (hence only one spray color). The palette also contain material properties so it got more complex than I first anticipated :-O

I'm having a hard time keeping up with twitter right now. I try to answer all DMs (except those asking for release date and random requests for free copies), but sometimes I can't keep up. Sorry about that.

Yeah that will probably happen at some point. I've just been using OpenGL for the last twenty years and it's the only thing I know :-/

It's using OpenGL, and it seems not very optimized on Radeon cards unfortunately.

I bought a Radeon RX 5700 XT. The good news is that the game runs without problems. The bad news is that performance is quite a bit worse than on the GTX 1080. There seems to be a significant speedup with the latest experimental drivers. AMD users, which drivers are you on?
