I'm also thinking about doing that. Fun fact. I wrote to my "motto" that I hate and refuse to use linked in and as a result I got a direct message on linked in from some random HR agency asking if I'm open to discussing how and for what I'm using it for. This is crazy.

Using blender after 10 years.... the only think that works the same way as I remember are few basic hot keys, rest is like learning completely new program. Imagine some other industry would do the same to its customers. User interfaces in sw are so far from being solved.

I thought I might finally update my linked in page so it at least resembles reality but I'm afraid I can't put through this sh*t. Everything about it is so terrible and alien feeling that I've start to have suicidal thoughts after 2 minutes of trying.

In 2019, Trump’s reelection campaign spent $20m on 218,100 Facebook ads. We built a database to analyze them all. What we found: beneath the xenophobia and invective is a massive, mundane clickbait operation designed to harvest supporter data

I've recently switched to brave myself but my main browser was chromium just because I'm way too used to it.

Just curious why don't you like Blink? I guess you don't like to see chromium becoming monopoly?

perhaps you can experiment with making commit message review part of code review process and enforce squash to one or more sensible commits before marking PR as rdy. But some might feel it’s too much process.

agree. this is my impression as well. Anyway in squash merge workflow there is always opportunity to write at least that last message descriptively. In practice though I think people don’t care much because at that point PR is usually reviewed and approved already.

Anyway I personally prefer more distributed model though I think that is not what most businesses like. Probably depends on agreement within the team in these case more than anything else.

Yeah definitely. Though kernel is developed in different model from most software. It’s indeed truly distributed network of git and other trees. In most companies though you share origin as well as other centralized tools which makes it less pressing to write good changelog imo.

Imo in a flow whith rebases and squashes you don’t care about this much. I see there are 2 categories of PR. Maintainer PR and contributor PR. For the later I’m usually squashing before opening the PR.

2nd and other lines automatically becomes PR description.

I'm doing it all the time. I think if you use rebases it only makes sense that you have to reset --hard from time to time.

People who are not even able to design consistent json/xml APIs are now building distributed micro services oriented system. I'm really sorry for the next generation of folks who inherits the mess we're making as a industry right now.

Oceňuji iniciativu , ale bylo by dobré nemystifikovat veřejnost. Dá se za víkend vytvořit fungující prototyp? Ano. Dá se vytvořit kvalitní a dlouhodobě udržovatelný software? Ne. Problém je skrytý v detailech. Krásná ukázka neporozumění mezi byznysem a technologií.
