#nCoV2019 genomes from China are accumulating a bit of genetic diversity (seen at nextstrain.org/ncov?c=locatio…). This is expected given RNA virus error-prone replication and does not indicate functional differences. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/9YgNP0teut

Interesting take. I think to call them “ideas” is misleading - evolution is a blind idiot god. I see the difficulty existing in discovering and integrating a vast web of often counterintuitive complexity that evolution has brute forced its way to.

Sorry that I never responded to this! I agree those are the most effective solutions for this particular issue. And I think we agree that there is currently a general problem with T&Cs!

And 77% of this is used for livestock?! It’s hard to imagine the changes we are going to see from artificial meat.

Agreed, without any further explanation this seems really silly. I wish we lived in a world where donating to Givewell charities was "absent-minded"!

I really hope this happens because it seems obvious the public should have access to the results of research that they helped fund. I know the same policy is being considered in Europe. Curious to see how this plays out. twitter.com/amyalkon/statu…

This is a misleading headline that implies the Rivian truck is superior to the Cybertruck. However, all the article says is that Rivian the company has a business model that may work.

Thanks for sharing all of this Ethan. For me, my biggest focus has been locking important parts of what I read into long term memory. I do this by trying to summarize the paper from memory and in summarizing it, make Anki flashcards!

A few ideas about the reading literature side of research. I’m by no means an expert-but having had to teach myself a lot of this stuff, I’m surprised by how little has been written about it, and here are some things I wish I knew when I started! (Thread 1/n)
