The desktop app is only available via the store. You can check with your IT to get it installed or use the web version via which offers the same features.

Archiving is kind of that feature. All archived cards end up in the archived items of the board for you to action on.

If you'd prefer to get a notification at the due date time, you may want to integrate Trello with a third-party app such as Google Calendar. From there, you can use their apps to customize the notifications.
