I'm currently reading a colonial student's diary and am intrigued that the 18th-century breakfast for champions wasn't but rather "three raw eggs and two glasses of wine."

I usually never watch tv, but during this time of social distancing, I've realized the great pleasure of the channel. I now understand how German shingles are made, the entire process from tree in the forest to covering on the roof.

A hitherto unattested consequence of coronavirus is that even the can no longer distinguish between Van Gogh's works. I've only been to the a few times, but "The parsonage garden at nuenen in spring" did not make the top of my list.

I first ask the health minister to convert 1.5 meters into yards, and then set up a hotline for me to report the far too many of my neighbors who seem to think that self-quarantining means throwing a darty and inviting all your friends.

Efforts to curb corona virus here in the are being thwarted because the literally can't control themselves when there is sun. There will now be fines for groups of more than 3 people who are not keeping 1.5 meters apart.

I suppose it would be business as usual, because what this article fails to mention is that everyone at college already receives only As and A-s.

calling with professors during the has been a trying experience. If you don't ask them if they can hear you or assure them you can hear them every 5 minutes, they will assume something is wrong and demand to restart the call. .

The are refusing to close schools because "There have been only few infections there and these environments are less international. Children and young people are not high-risk groups." This clumsy reasoning will probably make spread much, much worse.

Regardless of inappropriate analogy, it's odd that the president would assert that it's Harvard that owns its donors, and not the other way around. The institution is literally named after a donor, and just about every square inch of the school is full of donor names.

Don't just take my word for it. Check out this nice couplet from Shelton's manual: shorthand could make the “hand so swift as tongue,” to have “thy nimbler pen...many Tongues out-run.”

Any historians of the book or of note taking out there to help journalists wrestle with what exactly constitutes a transcript?

If they wanted a word for word record of the call, the president's advisers should have used shorthand, which was all the rave in England. I'd recommend Thomas Sheltons manual, which can be downloaded easily enough on

Love when people tweet about stories without actually reading them... I was talking about my family. Unfortunately, I'm not related to all undergraduates.
