I rescued a POWER6 520 from an eWaste pile, and all I want to do is give IBM money for an AIX 7.1 license so I can sharpen my skills at home. I'm having a hard time, and guessing you've had a similar experience with mainframes. Know anyone inside I can talk to?

Our fundraiser is lagging a bit. If you could help out by throwing in a few shekels it would really really be appreciated. Enjoy July 4th weekend everyone!

Use the RadioHead library, which supports plenty of chips with very low overhead. It's designed to make two Arduinos talk together reliably, which is exactly what you want.

Can anyone recommend a IR blaster and receiver for a Raspberry Pi? Carrie wants to reverse engineer our Visio TV remote, but I'm failing to figure out what we need

Invention idea: A fire alarm with a clock, designed to begin its death rattle beeping during normal business hours instead of five o'clock on a Sunday morning.

Do spark plugs create more interference on the 2m band when an engine is running unnecessarily lean, or the same amount? And why?

You've worked with a stubborn engineer. But have you ever worked with an engineer so stubborn, that to get them to use the new OS they're supposed to be working on, you create a custom build of the OS, with the old UI, break into their office, and replace ROMs in their computer?

Anyone need an authentic WW2 Mk1 Mod 1 36" Plotting Table? These were used on destroyers and escorts to track submarines and coordinate depth charge attacks. The glass top lights up, and you can draw on it with pencil. I need to part with it.

β€œGreat writeup” wasn’t enough to capture really how clean and thorough this writeup is so I’m redoing my RT. If you are interested in JIT exploitation, this is a must read. Very clear from the ground up on a vuln that seems super hard to exploit at first glance. Thanks

The appendices to your thesis will make for some damned fine reading.

Someone tried PCIe on the Raspberry Pi 4 already. Yes, the wiring job is horrible, and yes, of course it works, as I've said many times. Go hack on PCIe already, it's easier than you think. Now someone needs to stick a Radeon RX Vega on there, for kicks.

You'll probably want an LPC-Link2, TC2050-IDC-NL-050-ALL (normal orientation), and 1.8V-compatible USB-to-Serial adapter.

Long shot / call to arms: Looking for someone with access to this Pippin CD-ROM: Maybe you won that auction? Maybe you didn't but you have another one of these discs? Maybe a buddy does and owes you a favor? If one of these applies to you, please DM me.

They switched to USB in type 6, right? What do you folks use as an adapter for the 5?

disassembled the first few bits of the 512 byte "hidden" ROM. this is a factory-set ROM in every Intel 80C51 that's probably used for factory test modes. i think a few bits are flipped so it doesn't make 100% sense.
