One of the benefits of social media and collaboration through professional learning networks is that we get a more complete picture of who and how people are affected by the education system nationwide.

I know of no educators who teach kids to hate America. Most teach kids to question and critically analyze things in order to improve our lives and country.

This crisis has exposed so many inequities in our country. Unemployment benefits in some states are more than inadequate. People in need are provided obstacles while the affluent folks are provided pathways.

Any Politician who is elected has a responsibility to lead. When they fail to do so in a time of crisis, resulting in death for thousands of people, it is not enough to say they’re just not doing ther job.

I saw an interview with a local politician in CA wanting to open beaches. She said this is not a plague since she did not personally know anyone who died from Covid19 and asked the reporter if he did.

We've been arranging classrooms for social distance rules here in Bermuda as well. The simple answer is 'you can't'. You need overflow classrooms, manned by other certified teachers, which means you are now pulling your PE, Music and Art teachers into the mix = no encore/breaks

I had to purchase a better internet plan and a better modem, so I'm already out of pocket due to virtual teaching, but that's par for the course, as districts and parents often expect teachers to foot the bill for instructional needs. Glad I got to defer my student loan payments!
