I realize that Maryland is far from Brazil but right now the leading Democratic primary contenders in the primary are all African-American including the former head of the national NAACP.

Trump sent his DHS Secretary, , out to lie on television about what happened in the DACA meeting, apparently without realizing she’s scheduled to testify under oath tomorrow before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Dick Durbin is a senior member of that committee.

The piece read like an endorsement of her candidacy. I suppose once she has announced you're kind of stuck. But really this is a bad idea politically. Nobody even mentions that the NSA and all its employees and contractors are in Maryland and probably vote.

I live in Maryland and know politics. There is zero chance she does remotely well that would advance any issues you or Chelsea care about. Most likely she loses badly and it looks like a setback for those causes. It is some pretty bad political strategy to assume otherwise.

On this MLK Day, we should take a moment to recognize the forces that continue the discrimination that Dr. King fought against. The bail bonds industry is one of the strongest. I’ve called for an end to cash bail to ensure our legal system becomes more just and fair for all.

Dr. King was 26 when the Montgomery bus boycott began. He started small, rallying others who believed their efforts mattered, pressing on through challenges and doubts to change our world for the better. A permanent inspiration for the rest of us to keep pushing towards justice.

Today, we commemorate my father’s 89th birthday. Beyond sharing quotes, I pray that our global community, from educators to politicians to artists to law enforcement, will truly hear his voice, follow his teachings and demonstrate his love for humanity.

And now, ‘Letter from Birmingham Jail.’ A masterpiece. “You deplore the demonstrations taking place in Birmingham. But your statement, I am sorry to say, fails to express a similar concern for the conditions that brought about the demonstrations.”
