I think some people are timid about editing other people’s content, but I don’t seem to have any qualms about completely gutting and rewriting it. I guess I have confidence that my edits will dramatically improve the content; hence, how could they object to the content overhaul?

This Reply All episode -- “#97 What Kind of Idiot Gets Phished?” -- is one of the most engaging podcasts I’ve ever listened to. . It’s especially relevant after watching the movie Searching, which is also highly interesting.

Yeah, both distilling large amounts of info and creating large amounts of info can be hard. But at the same time, I couldn't end a 45 minute presentation in 5 minutes and tell everyone hey, I condensed the material for you all, then exit.

The difference between a 500 word post and a 5,000 word post is orders of magnitude harder. It’s not just 10 times the length, it’s 10 times the complexity around structure, development, organization, flow, attention, and more. It’s so easy for the content to lose focus.

This week I’m converting some unstructured reference content to structured content — defining my own YAML schema for it. I think it’s pretty cool, b/c afterwards I’ll be able to manipulate it in different ways. But how do you validate the YAML schema?

Good point. Re “dishes wash themselves,” this is my “chore” at home and I’m pretty sure no one notices unless I stop doing them for 2 days. Then people freak out and self-destruct.
