Similarly, _oen (often used!) could be “output enable” or “output enable active low”. _ena removes that ambiguity as well.
Suffixes on internal ports (_o, _i) are bad, prefixes are beyond evil. :-)

If you have a bidir IO, does _out mean out of the chip, or out of the IO pad instance into the core? Both are used, and if you have multiple IP with different conventions, it’s a total mess. _to_pad removes that ambiguity.

More important is the naming of the signals that go from pad instance to core. Instead of ambiguous “_in / _out / _oe”, I use “_from_pad/_to_pad/_pad_ena”. github.com/mystorm-org/Bl…

At 3.3V:
All off: 0.6A, R-only: 6.6A, G-only: 3.6A, B-only: 2.8A, White: 7.8A (!?). I have global dimming set at 1/4th, which limits things to around 1.8A.

LED panel: 12x Project MC2 Pixel Purse (Amazon, $6.50, now $40), FPGA board: Cisco HWIC-3G-CDMA modem (eBay, $8), 3 custom PCBs (JLCPCB, $9), 12x HUB75 cables, screws, headers, glue, ... (AliExpress, $?)

With most of the RTL done (sadly), it’s time to start working on visuals... Bitmaps are easy, but it needs demo-like effects too. Metaballs? Plasma fields? pic.twitter.com/nwpcsAdZxK

They're the 32x16 P6 panels from the Pixel Purse. I'm driving it with a Cisco HWIC-3G-CDMA modem. :-)

The thickness of the LED panel PCB and the solder joints still create a gap. Could be fixed with a spin, but the gap is small enough that you don’t notice it when LEDs are blasting lights in your eyeballs. pic.twitter.com/E63U1omr9u

My father (a physics professor) allowed 12yo me to take apart a broken washer and experiment with connecting random pins on the motor and the huge capacitors to 220V. I had no idea what I was doing. So many shocks and tripped circuit breakers. I don’t remember any stern warnings.

Any JTAG dongle that works with openocd should be fine for initial work discovery work. I used an Altera USB-Blaster clone in this case.
For bitstream programming, I assume that a Lattice programmer is necessary? @Claude1079, do you know?
