I think the fact that we live in a culture that insists someone else has to lose for us to feel like we win is a really big problem.

What an absurd and blatant attempt.

Yep — no matter what happens, we’re all still on the same hamster wheel, and running gets wearisome. Be kind to one another.

Forfeiting? Maybe he was loving his neighbor, not “demonstrating wokeness.” Maybe his ego isn’t as big as most and preserving dignity isn’t the goal for him. Maybe he believes Jesus when Jesus said “what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but forfeit his soul?” Maybe?

I guess saying “Don’t let them East Coastify your Texas” sounds catchier (and worse?) than “I’m trying to Arkansasfy your Texas.”

Example: One candidate ominously accuses the other of taking cash from New York. But they themselves are taking money from Arkansas.

What they MEAN, of course, is that the money is coming from PACs that oppose them, but they can’t say that because they ALSO take money from out of state PACs.

It appears to me that a lot of Texas candidates’ best argument against their opponent is that they’ve taken money from outside Texas. 25%-33% of Texas growth is from folks who moved here from another state, and 15% of all Texas were foreign born. So in other words, who cares?

Great piece! Hey — you think Texas would go for a Pro-Life Democrat?

I feel like she’s Roberts 2.0 — conservative, sure...but she’s not like Steve Bannon or anything.

This is a tremendously helpful podcast — the series in general and Episode 4 in particular. We must understand the times in which we live if we seek to help redeem them.

They must’ve scheduled this twice because it ran yesterday with a correction in the thread.

As someone (and now a candidate) who has tried to transcend and live above the fray, I found this very challenging and helpful. Thank you for sharing.

I agree both are complicit. My point is that there are too many people more upset about an economic outcome that isn’t going to happen than they are a human tragedy that already has.
