I didn’t particularly enjoy exams, but I dislike grading them something tremendously, and I found many students underperformed. Upon reflection, they do not test what I consider to be important, so I now work around them. Then I figured out I dislike grading in general 🤔

Someone complained to the council about a lady "Mowing her lawn at 6:45pm in a black dress with no shoes" So the entire suburb had a "Ridiculous mowing outfit" day.

Reading about Neo-Babylonian archaeology. As in, archaeology done *by* the Neo-Babylonians. It's very cool. Trenches! Ancient epigraphists! Cast-making of ancient inscriptions! All this in the 6th C BC.

I now keep notes on my flute practice (otherwise I never know what I did the past week when I show up for my lesson). Today is a new one: "Bloch [suite modale]: distracted by spider on the ceiling above me." 👀 🕷️

On exchange in Cambridge in my final year of undergrad, still pinching myself that it's for real. (And working my socks off on my undergrad thesis.)

For UK: the Russell Group is an interesting grouping to consider for this. There are also "red brick universities", that is honestly all I know about them, I went to "oxbridge" which is its own bubble.
