i keep trying to write about this and it keeps not quite being fully cooked, but just like... something wild happens when you use an ontology that was designed for the needs of a *bureaucracy* in order to *understand and explain yourself to yourself and others*

It's good, worth a quick read;
and it's best use is probably to lend/give to friends who are *almost* post-capitalist but need a few more cogent arguments to get there,
or to friends/pals who are mildly post-capitalist-curious and open to something different 🔥👀

This thread of yours is a really good 2020 distillation (mapped onto electoral strategy etc) of much of this book from 2012:

...but consider his policies for worker-owned Fish Hatchery cooperatives!
Also, banning sleds & toboggans could really cut health care costs by reducing concussions, hypothermia, etc

...If you were to let go of the responsibility to be kind or polite, what would you say? I value your real opinion. I've got big shoulders, I can take it...
...If you need a bit of time, get back to me [in person/phone/email/text etc]"

In those cases, perhaps there's an opportunity for you to ask for what you need more of.
You could say to one of, something like, "hey, thanks for being considerate. Right now I could really use an unvarnished opinion from you...

Maybe some of those relationships aren't worth the candle and you could bring those to a close/cut them out.
There might be a few relationships with overly/always "nice" people where you see that there's something worth preserving in those relationships.

What a profound expression.
It reminds me of Wordsworth’s understanding of poetic practice as “emotion recollected in tranquillity”.

We don't find peace by avoiding our emotional or even physical pain. Such pain is the cost of having this human body. Maybe peace is found when we refuse to wage war against our experience. We choose instead to receive them as they are, with a kind and gentle heart.

In North America going back to the 1950s the modal child has been subjected to thousand of hours of screentime (television, then TV + internet) between birth and age 13 (or 18, or age 25)

A few paragraphs in (where you put out how anthropological knowledge corrects Hobbes’ misunderstanding of human societies) and I’ve already bookmarked this for reading later.
You already had my attention with the muqadimmah, and the opening grafs confirm this is worth my time
