I have no doubt you are an extraordinary mom, scientist, and human being (I’ve never met you but your posts continually inspire). I’m appalled/shocked by the comments you were getting about your family bg, as if you could choose you parents and grandparents.

Excited to share this preprint! The second in our 28andMe series. We show that progesterone shapes MTL volume across the human menstrual cycle. 30 consecutive days of serum hormone levels and hippocampal segmentation--a true labor of love (and eye strain).

This isn't pleasant, but it's important; negative mentorship can do more damage than no mentorship at all. After interviewing 33 life sciences undergraduate researchers, & her team identified 7 different forms of negative mentorship ():

2) there are several federal grants one can apply to at all career stages. I hadn’t heard of the NSF GRP until I entered grad school but one can apply for this grant before grad school. Knowing which opp are available early on helps with planning and preparing!

There are 2 things I wish I knew before applying to grad school: 1) for some programs you’re applying to a specific lab so if that PI isn’t taking students that year for whatever reason you’re out of luck

We’ve gotten used to the status quo. Every Black child in America deserves the opportunity to be as successful as their white peers, regardless of which zip code they’re born in. Time to refocus our efforts on making equality of opportunity a reality.

Class sizes are growing, and we can't ask research faculty to take on even more responsibilities. Plus, shouldn't we be creating space to improve our teaching practices? Full-time, tenure track teaching professors can address this problem:
