“When men understand that the best way to solve their own problem is to help women solve those that men have created for women, they will have taken one of the first significant steps toward its solution… The truth will make men free as well as women.” Angela Saini

For the sake of our girls/women, it’s clear that MEN have a BIG ROLE to play to end FGM. BUT when MEN don't or delay on it, WOMEN shouldn't wait for them. WOMEN can be the change they want to see in the world. WOMEN have been on the forefront of the effort to end FGM for decades!

Though it may adversely affect the FGM victims,I fully support and appeal to all men in my locality to go for uncut ladies who were neglected in the past due to cultural beliefs that equate the uncut ladies to immature girls

I strongly agree with you, MEN have a role to play when it comes to FGM but "I" don't think abandoning circumcised women/girls can be solution😡! Just:- 1. We need MORE sensitization for those parents that force girls into that practice.

If all men said no to today then this practice would end once and for all! But we have to be careful not to discriminate and victimize those who have already undergone when talking about marriage

I don't agree with such idea. It will victimize the girls who are cut against their will. We have many avenues to stamp authority to as men. We are patriarchs and custodians of such archaic cultures and our voice can be final key. I am

HHMM , so we further victimise/isolate women. Give agency to the men to decide who is worthy of marriage. This is reframing the same narrative that sees women as inferior being in society. Men have a part to play which doesn't require further erosion of women's worth.

Totally agree. We cannot devalue the already victimized woman by such step.

This is ABSURD Firstly, most persons who are victims of FGM never asked for it, they are broken, bruised and violated for life, starting from an early age to experience trauma, adding refusal to marry is not JUST. Her thoughts deeply shows how much work that still need to done

DO YOU SUPPORT THIS? In her reaction to our tweet, an anti-FGM campaigner suggested that, "MEN can play a very important role in ending FGM by refusing to marry girls who have been circumcised..." BUT how do men normally spot out the circumcised women from the uncircumcised ones?
