Content is the foundation of culture. The best organizations will create a culture that understands and truly believes that content is a key factor in driving success not just in marketing but also in recruitment, sales, customer success & internal communication.

Exactly. You have to have clarity around who you’re trying to reach. It’s not just a gut feeling either - it needs to be rooted in data / truth.

Yup. I agree with this. It’s why I think diversifying distribution channels beyond Google is so important. Featured snippets are changing search behavior but brands can still (1) influence what shows up there and (2) capture immense value from transactional intent.

I think all of his points are valid. The SERP for informational content is changing — but there’s still a lot of value to be had on these pages. A % will search, get answers and leave but a % will still click. Searches with buying intent will become the most valuable.

Don’t give up on building your audience. It can be difficult. It can take time. It can be overwhelming even. But through patience, consistency, overcoming algorithm changes & error... You’ll unlock new skills & insights. Once acquired, it gets much easier.

Startups that own the SERP today will be the brands with a very impressive market cap tomorrow.

Just because you haven't achieved something as quick as a peer, mentor, friend or colleague - doesn't mean you failed. Don't forget that.

Create once. Distribute forever. Most people will spend 20 hours to create a masterpiece and spend 20 minutes to promote it. Then they're left wondering... Hmm. Why didn't that take off? Distribution folks. Embrace it.
